Why Five Plus Protein Was Born: A PA's Take on Chronic Inflammation
on Aug 07 2025
As a physician assistant with over 25 years of experience, I’ve witnessed major shifts in medicine—epidemics, pandemics, evolving standards of care, and a growing recognition of the role chronic inflammation plays in long-term health.
Unlike the acute inflammation we typically associate with an injury—like when I recently sprained my ankle—chronic inflammation is a silent disruptor. It doesn’t cause visible swelling or pain right away, but instead simmers under the surface, quietly damaging tissues and DNA over time. This type of low-grade, persistent immune activation has been linked to heart disease, cancer, diabetes, and a host of autoimmune conditions.
What causes it? The list is long: poor sleep, stress, obesity, environmental toxins, and even lingering infections or trauma. Unfortunately, it's not going anywhere—and neither should our focus on it.
That’s why I started paying attention. And it’s why Five Plus Protein was born.
In my personal journey toward better health and as a healthcare provider committed to longevity and wellness, I’ve become passionate about what we put on our plates. Certain spices—like turmeric and cinnamon—have been studied for their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. They’re not magic bullets, but they’re worth including in a consistent, healthy lifestyle.
At Five Plus, we’ve worked hard to create a protein bar that’s more than just a snack. It’s a purposeful habit. Each bar includes ingredients studied for their anti-inflammatory properties along with balanced plant-based nutrition, designed to support people who want to feel better, move better, and age well.
But make no mistake: Five Plus isn’t just about convenience. It’s about helping people invest in their health, one bite at a time.
